We smile at the photo above while often wishing that God would be this obvious to us! We have to know. We cannot be satisfied simply to assume. What if we are wrong? We have to know because eternity is a long time to be wrong!
But wait... God was and is obvious in giving us signs! His Son was and is both the message and the messenger!
"Many other signs (attesting miracles) Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples...but these have been written so that you may believe..."
Seven incredible and miraculous signs were demonstrated by Jesus and documented by John...
John 2: Water becomes vintage wine in the act of the pouring - He has power over creation.
John 4: A government official's son is raised from his death-bed by the command of Jesus at 20 miles distance - He has power over death.
John 5: He stood, walked, and carried his mattress away from the infirmary which had been his home for 38 years...no rehab...no relearning...he simply rose and walked at the command of Jesus - He is Lord of the Sabbath and power to heal.
John 6: In orderly fashion He hosts a tail-gate party for 5,000 men plus their families...and catering it all from a small child's meager lunch...filling hungry bellies plus brimming "take-home" baskets for each of the 12 table-waiters - He is the Shepherd Provider and Protector.
John 9: The storms whipped terror into the hearts of journeymen sailors...and He walked to their rescue, the turbulent waves being His sidewalk - He is King of Creation.
John 8-9: He declared Himself to be the light of the world then gave sight to eyes which had not one time in forty years seen the sun - He is the Light.
John 11: A man four-days buried wobbles out of an open grave because his name had been called and his restored life commanded by the voice of the caring Jesus - He is the Word!
And as if we needed a bonus, an 8th sign is given to us...
John 20: And He topped them all off by rising from His own grave on the third day following His brutal murder! - He is the risen Christ...
"And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books which were written." John 21:25
These were all written so that we may believe!
