Demons do vicious things to those they possess. That is, until Jesus speaks!
They blamed it on the "golf gods." He is a professional and a six foot putt for birdie was virtually a "gimme." That is, until out of nowhere a twig from a distant tree fluttered down to rest directly in his line. He had studied it...he had followed his disciplined routine...he was focused on his ball...he pulled his club into its back-swing...and out of nowhere a twig fluttered and rested directly in his line. Phil Mickelson walked off the second green of the 2010 Masters PGA with a par penciled on his scorecard and a silly grin fixed on his face. And the commentators blamed it on the "golf gods"!

The child of the desperate dad whom Jesus met as He descended from the mount of transfiguration would burst out in screams, shake violently with convulsions, foam at the mouth, and be cast in the burning coals of fires.
Demons do vicious things to those they possess.
No chains could be found which would hold the man. The possessed in the hills of Gadara ran wild and unclothed in among the graves, screaming night and day, cutting himself with stones. The neighbors were understandably frightened.

In fact, a herd of 2,000 swine chose to kill themselves by running off the cliffs and drowning in the sea rather than live as homes for the demons which had for so long tormented that man!

As the sun fought for control of the Sunday morning sky, she made her way out of the city and into the graveyard where the body of the Master had been laid. Though she made the short journey in the company of others, she must have felt all alone. The voice of the One who had rescued her from the terrorizing possession of the seven demons was silent in the tomb. The only One who had power over those unseen influencers who find their great delight in the destruction of lives and the robbery of dreams was last seen lying lifeless in the grave. John penned it this way: "Now on the first day of the week Mary Magdalene(Mark added, "...from whom He had cast out seven demons") came early to the tomb."
The voice that had been silenced by the grave, gently spoke her name! "Mary!" And suddenly the "demons" of despair released her soul and set her free!

- She did not come to see a resurrection.
- She did not come to contemplate a rolled back stone.
- She did not come to meet the radiant messengers.
- She simply came to honor the One who rescued her from her demons.
